Job Details:

MSK is seeking a Strategic Analyst II to join our Strategic Partnerships team. As part of Strategic Partnerships, the Strategic Analyst II is the lead data analyst and software programmer for the department. Strategic Partnerships works with MSK’s innovative collaborations with other hospitals, including the MSK Cancer Alliance, the Memorial Sloan Kettering-Hackensack Meridian Health Partnership, and MSK Physicians at Norwalk Hospital. Within MSK, Strategic Partnerships works with physicians across the institution, as well as multiple departments including Clinical Research, Nursing, Pharmacy, Lab Medicine, Pathology, Survivorship, Strategy & Innovation, etc. In concert with clinicians, Strategic Partnerships facilitates the assessment of Standards of Care and Resources & Capabilities at MSK Cancer Alliance locations. As part of this team, the Strategic Analyst II will work both internally and externally to design and develop new projects, as well as evaluate and improve existing processes.

You Will:

  • Design, develop, and execute projects to assess the performance of various departmental initiatives, including projects related to research, clinical practice, and patient referrals

  • Learn our partners’ organizational and data structure to prepare for data collection, related to research and clinical practice

  • Design efficient and effective initial quality assessments of external data and facilitate transfer to appropriate databases

  • Program and maintain new software to optimize the data collection process for assessment of MSK and external partners’ clinical practice and outcomes

  • Develop, maintain, and update assessment tools and appropriate metrics with clinicians

You Are:

  • Comfortable finding, gathering, and structuring data by talking to and learning from technical stakeholders in a variety of organizations

  • Able to build and validate analysis around a high-level question from non-technical stakeholder

  • Comfortable outlining assumptions behind analysis and communicate the scope of the analysis

  • Comfortable with using quantitative techniques (e.g. scenario analysis, machine learning, forecasting, and predictive modeling) to solve business problems

  • Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes contradictory information

  • Able to operate effectively, even when things are not clear or the way forward is not obvious

You need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (statistics, economics, operations research, mathematics, biostatistics etc.)

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with real-world data

  • Experience with relational databases and SQL queries

  • Experience with statistical software (R, SAS, or SPSS) or programming (Python, Java, C++, or VBA)

  • Working knowledge in advanced analytics (academic or industry) i.e. machine learning, predictive modeling, forecasting, simulation, optimization

  • Expertise in data visualization (Tableau, R, or python)

  • Presentation skills and experience: verbal, visual, and written

Nice to have:

  • Masters degree in a quantitative field

  • Prior work experience in a clinical setting

  • Experience in presenting to executive leaders

  • Optimization experience with linear and mixed-integer programming (Gurobi/Python, GAMS, Cplex, AMPL)

  • Simulation experience: discrete-event, agent-based, Monte Carlo (Simio, Flexsim, Anylogic)
