Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center Senior Research Technician in New York, New York
At Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK), we’re not only changing the way we treat cancer, but also the way the world thinks about it. By working together and pushing forward with innovation and discovery, we’re driving excellence and improving outcomes. For the 28th year, MSK has been named a top hospital for cancer by U.S. News & World Report. We are proud to be on Becker’s Healthcare list as one of the 150 Great Places to Work in Healthcare in 2018, as well as one of Glassdoor’s Employees’ Choice Best Place to Work for 2018. We’re treating cancer, one patient at a time.Join us and make a difference every day.
The goal of our group at Sloan Kettering Institute is to develop cutting edge single-cell experimental technologies that includes single-cell RNA-seq and multi-dimensional in-situ imaging to explore questions in tumor heterogeneity, metastasis and tumor immune environment. A key focus is the single cell profiling of clinical patient samples, with the goal of improving immunotherapy and precision medicine. The work in our dynamic multi-disciplinary team involves droplet microfluidics, large-scale assay automation, computational biology, single-cell imaging and analysis, molecular biology, next-gen sequencing, etc. We are seeking for a dedicated, and careful wet-lab researcher who is interested in learning and developing new single-cell technologies for cancer research.
As aSenior Research Technician you will:
Develop new protocols for disassociation, preservation and sorting of clinical patient tissue from multiple cancer types including breast, lung, skin, ovarian, brain, blood and other cancer types.
Develop and run single-cell assays, including library preparation and robotic handling for RNA-Seq.
Participate in projects to collect large-scale single-cell datasets from clinical samples in collaboration with clinical trial teams.
Develop novel biological assays in combination with droplet microfluidics.
Automate library preparation protocols and increase throughput using robotic handling of stable assays.
Test and develop new reagents and protocols of general interest for the laboratory, if required.
Bachelors or Master’s with 3+ years of wet-lab experience.
Prior experience with NGS library preparation and in-depth knowledge of advanced molecular biology and genetic engineering techniques.
Extensive wet-lab experience is highly preferable.
Mammalian tissue culture and FACS.
Fluorescence and confocal microscopy.
Experience in microtiter plate assays (e.g. MARS-Seq) would be an asset.
Basic computational skills:
Experience with document-processing programmes such as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Powerpoint), etc.
Scientific figures management such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape, etc.
Computational techniques and statistical knowledge
Experience with programming skill, such as R, Python, MatLab, etc, is a plus
