TheRecreation Specialistprovides adult patients, families, and friends with an environment that supports their healing during inpatient stay or clinic visits. To identify, develop and facilitate activities that address patients’ physical, emotional, cognitive, and social needs and promotes relaxation, creative self-expression, and socialization.
Recreation Activities Delivery and Coaching: Welcomes patients and guests to the Patient Recreation Pavilion. Assists adult patients to determine recreation activities that will best meet their needs, desires and challenges. Conducts diversified and adaptive recreational activities to meet the needs of patients, modifying the activities to accommodate their disabilities and challenges.
Activity Development and Planning: Propose new or updated activities to integrate into the Recreation Program. Assists with the organization and promotion of recreation activities and special events. Secures and prepares materials needed for each activity and review workflows for conducting recreation activities.
Care for the Environment: Maintains a welcoming and orderly environment in all recreational areas.
Volunteer/Intern Training and Supervision: Trains and supervises volunteers and interns
Patient and Guest Safety: Ensures that safety and infection control precautions are observed
Operations Management Support: Participates in the daily operations management of the department.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Therapeutic Artsor related field;
Minimum Work Experience: 2 years of work experience in Recreation Services#LI-POST
Schedule: Monday, Wednesday-Friday: 9am-5pm Tuesday: 12pm-8pm
