Job Details:

The Purchasing Assistant role within Corporate Procurement is an entry-level position designed to provide exposure to individuals interested in pursuing a career within Supply Chain and/or Corporate Procurement. The Purchasing Assistant will provide direct support to MSK’s multiple buying teams and Travel Coordinator and will have access to shadow Procurement dept. employees performing various procurement activities, including, but not limited to: Perform admin functions around issuance (mailing) of bids, RFI/ RFQ/ RFP, and processing of purchase requisitions or orders, and how to navigate within a complex healthcare institution.

You Will:

  • Collect all non-electronic requisitions, capture key data within a requisition log, and distribute to each Corporate Procurement buying team in accordance with instructions/purchase categories presented.

  • Contact vendors as directed, confirm their receipt of MSK’s purchase orders, and obtain delivery status (and update systems/logs as directed).

  • Assist end user community with customer service inquiries by directing and/or expediting calls/emails/critical requests to appropriate personnel using proper telephone techniques.

  • Submit requisitions for Corporate Procurement supply orders and maintain inventory levels.

  • Assist in processing departmental returns, maintain Return Log to capture key data as directed, and assist in identifying trends.

  • Assist senior level employees with tracking performance across all teams by consolidating Progress Reports into Performance Metrics Log.

  • Schedule and greet department visitors, including MSK Executives and Vendor Representatives.

You Have:

  • High School Diploma and 2+ years of college

  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Suite

  • Proficient with typing & data input, 35 to 40 nominally

  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Good phone manner and communication

  • Attention to detail and quality
