As a Proteomics Specialist you will develop and implement mass spectrometry based methods to characterize and quantitate proteins from complex biochemical mixtures such as cell lysates and human plasma. In addition, this person will operate and maintain a high-resolution tandem mass spectrometer and the requisite nano-scale liquid chromatography systems.
Develop and implement LC-MS/MS methodologies to support MSKCC research efforts.
Successfully complete job duties specific responsibilities include the biochemical isolation of proteins from unique matrices such as stable isotope labeled cells and tissues and manipulation of those proteins so that they are now compatible with LC-MS analysis.
Be responsible for designing mass spectrometry experiments to sequence, characterize post translational modification, and to quantitate protein analytes including selected reaction monitoring (SRM) LC-MS/MS methods tuned for unique proteins of interest.
Support emerging technology and develop new mythologies for existing systems.
Operate a high-resolution tandem mass spectrometer at 5 parts per million mass accuracy and maintain the requisite nano-scale liquid chromatography systems.
Run QA/QCs, tuning, calibration of mass spectrometer, trouble shooting technical issues, routine maintenance, data analysis and report generation.
- Master’s Degree Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or similar field with 2-4 years of relevant work experience in bio-analytical method development in the pharmaceutical, research, or clinical laboratory. Doctorate preferred#LI-SB1
