The Department of Surgery has an exciting new opportunity for an Editorial Project coordinator to assist the Editorial and Grant Writing service with project and information management, editing and publication research.
The Project Coordinator will:
Support Editor-in-Chief of an international medical journal with calendar management, managing correspondence and EIC’s review of manuscripts and other special projects as assigned.
Serve as primary liaison for some internal and external contacts.
Facilitate process improvement initiatives.
Train in medical editing, both substantive editing and copy editing of articles and book chapters for professional publications, as well as the writing and editing of other academic medical materials.
Create project reports using database queries and spreadsheet applications to track data relevant to the academic research and publishing projects of the department.
Assist with illustration/figure creation using Photoshop, Illustrator and Quark or InDesign.
Format manuscripts, abstracts, foundation and department reports, grant applications, videos, visual presentations and/or other documents in collaboration with Editors to support academic projects.
Capable of building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
Able to work effectively in an environment notable for complex, sometimes contradictory information.

Bachelor’s Degree plus 2-4 years’ experience in project coordination/project management
Demonstrated skills in writing, editing and proofreading
Experience with software including Photoshop, Acrobat, Access, Excel, Illustrator and Quark or InDesign
