The Lead Phlebotomist obtains blood specimens via venipuncture and fingersticks for laboratory analysis on adult patients and obtains vital signs and documents findings on patient visit sheets and performs accessioning and clerical duties as needed. Our ideal candidate is an experienced Phlebotomist and has experience providing high-quality patient care in both direct and indirect capacities. About the Role:
The lead phlebotomists at our outpatient clinics are an integral part of the clinical support staff, playing a vital role in the overall healthcare experience. The role requires a high level of accuracy, precision, and responsibility and offers a level of lab ownership that is centered around creating the best possible experience for our patients. A few of the core responsibilities are:
Collecting blood specimens using correct venipuncture or fingerstick technique as ordered by physicians for various laboratory analyses.
Performs preparatory steps required to collect samples. Assures proper labeling of specimen tubes after the blood collection procedure.
Enters required data into the computer system, Maintains complete, accurate, legible, neat and organized worksheets.
Contributes to the upkeep and safety of the laboratory and assures a clean, safe, and adequately supplied work areas.
Oversees activities of assigned areas to assure accurate, thorough completion of work
Provides direction, training, and feedback on phlebotomy procedures, as assigned
Hours: 8 hours 6:30am-2:30pm, Monday – Friday
Minimum Experience: 3 years of strong full-time phlebotomy/venipuncture experience
Preferred Experience: 5 years of strong experience preferred
High School or G.E.D.
Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
Certificate demonstrating completion of medical assistant or phlebotomy training program.
Preferred: National phlebotomy certification.
