Job Description

The Molecular Diagnostic Lab Supervisor is responsible to ensure the daily operation and supervision of technical employees inthe ExtractionLaboratory of Diagnostic Molecular Pathology. Assist the Lab Director in evaluating and developing technical procedures to provide optimum service and efficiency within the framework of established laboratory policies.

You Will:

  • Supervise DNA/RNA Extraction team in Diagnostic Molecular Pathology Laboratory

  • Analyze, review and supervise all extractions including DNA for FFPE, LVB, Nails, and RNA extraction methods

  • Manage and resolve technical issues related to extraction

  • Plan, prepare and supervise extraction techniques relating to laboratory, NYSDOH and Joint Commission standards

  • Create, implement, review and evaluate laboratory procedures and policies for extraction laboratory operations

  • Perform pre- and post-analytic functions to attain departmental goals and ensure conformance by laboratory staff

  • Perform Quality Controls for processes

  • Keep and maintain laboratory records, reports and files

  • Support Laboratory Director, Technical Director, and attendings with laboratory activities and operations

  • Prepare and assist Operations Manager with capital budget processes

  • Analyze and supervise CAP Proficiency Testing

  • Review and monitor maintenance and service agreements for instruments

  • Review and manage inventory, storage and supplies

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a science area of study required

  • Master’s degree preferred

  • 4-6 years of experience in Diagnostic Molecular, including 1 year in a lead role
