Infection Control Manager
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that 1 in every 25 patients admitted to acute-care hospitals in the United States each year acquire infections that were not related to the condition for which they were hospitalized. Approximately 1.7 million healthcare associated infections (HAI) occur in U.S. hospitals each year, resulting in 99,000 deaths and an estimated $20 billion in healthcare costs.
Although the precise causes HAI’s are difficult to identify, experts believe that about a third could be prevented using current recommendations. The goal of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Infection Control program is to provide the safest healthcare environment for our patients by using evidence based guidelines to prevent HAIs and to engage in clinical and translational research to further the mission of infection prevention among oncology settings.
Direct and oversee all operational activities of the Infection Control department to implement evidence based guidelines for infection prevention and safe care at all MSK inpatient and ambulatory sites.
Manage and provide direction of the Infection Control Program to ensure effective and efficient operations at MSKCC which comply with federal, state, local, JCAHO, CMS and other regulatory agencies.
Maintain departmental needs and resources to assure the provision of quality patient care.
Act as a liaison with outside departments to develop infection prevention related portions of their guidelines and policies and regularly reviews issues related to adherence to evidence based guidelines.

Certification in Infection Control required
Experience in the field of infection control/epidemiology are the minimum requirements. This position requires the ability to apply broad technical, clinical or professional knowledge and significant job-related experience to function as an internal consultant/researcher and/or assume managerial responsibility in a specialized functional unit of the organization.
