The office of Research Outreach and Compliance is looking for a talented IACUC QA Specialist to join their team. The IACUC QA Specialist is responsible for scientific protocol pre-review and developing and implementing the Post Approval Monitoring Program for Animal Care at MSK and works directly for the Institutional Animal Use and Care Committee (IACUC) and as such, reports to the Manager, Research Compliance.
Serve as an independent and objective viewpoint to promote a culture of compliance in a manner consistent with institutional policies, goals, and objectives.
Serve as a resource to IACUC, RARC Veterinary staff, PI’s and research community to ensure compliance with The Guide for the Care and Use of Lab Animals.
Monitor compliance through collection and review of objective data.
Design, plan, and conduct regulatory reviews of animal research with varying complexity levels for the purpose of proactive review and also addressing allegations of non-compliance.
Conduct for cause and post approval monitoring of research protocols on behalf of IACUC.
Report all findings to IACUC Administration, which will share information with the IO, IACUC Chair and members, and others, as appropriate.
Attend all monthly IACUC meetings to present findings and/or issues and to answer questions as appropriate
Serve as a member of the IACUC Compliance Sub-Committee and attends scheduled meetings.
Perform scientific pre-review on new protocol submissions, with special attention to those that involve USDA Species and/or Category E animals.
Serve as an educational resource to the research community and assists with ensuring communication of expectations and responsibilities for new protocols between RARC EQA and Veterinary staff and research teams. Works in partnership with RARC EQA staff and research teams to provide education on best practices and serves as a resource to the research teams.
Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 years of prior research, compliance, healthcare, or animal research experience
Master’s or Doctorate strongly preferred, along with Certified Professional IACUC Administrator (CPIA), Veterinary Technician education and/or Certification at the AALAS Laboratory Animal Technologist (LATG) level.#LI-SB1
