Job Details:

Main Function: Processes and digitizes imaging procedures submitted on films and importing data from CDs to PACS. Maintains an accurate record, through the radiology information system (RIS), of all film/CD movement and file maintenance procedures.

You Will:

  • Perform routine digitizing of submitted films as described in the Dept. of Radiology Policy and Procedure Manual. Responsible for digitizing of films from clinic areas within the Hospital on a consistent and timely basis.

  • Review OMS orders in RIS for each examination. Modifies orders to correlate with submitted films. Reviews for completeness (i.e., Fed EX slip, written report, exam complete)

  • Call requesting service area when orders are not available for release and follows-up on status of these orders.

  • Identifie order priority of submitted films and organizes appropriately by Stat Read, Stat File, Read and File Only classifications.

  • Prepare organized, accurate records and enters data into appropriate computer system

  • Accurately enters patient demographics, name, MRN, pt type, account number, requesting physician, clinical information, into the Radiology Information System (RIS).

  • Enter all patient procedure codes accurately into the RIS, prints additional PPF’s when needed. Updates the system with correct procedure code when procedure has been modified.

  • Enter correct patient demographics into equipment.

  • Document reason why images cannot be digitized.

  • Maintain an accurate record, through the radiology information system (RIS), of all film/CD movement and file maintenance procedures.

  • Ensure that the logbook in Film Digitizing Dept. is completed for all submitted films.

  • Track all CDs sent to the PACS Support Group for evaluation.

  • Track exam into patient or clinic RIS.

  • Responds to requests, from clinics, for submitted films. Answers any questions and directs unknown answers to the correct staff.

  • Able to lift heavy cartons of 40 to 50 pounds

  • Able to stand on feet all day

  • Needs good visual acuity

  • High level concentration required

  • Work: M-F, 9-5 or 10-6- must be flexible

High school or G.E.D. / Associates Degree Preferred
