Job Details:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Director of Materials Management to join our Supply Chain leadership team. The Director of Materials Management is a key leader of the MSK Supply Chain vision and strategy and a vital member of the Supply Chain Leadership team. This role will play a critical role in the transformation of our supply chain, assisting the new SVP Supply Chain and Sustaining Care Services, in developing a supply chain and logistics strategy and building core materials management competence, ensuring Supply Chain is a fundamental part of MSK’s competitive advantage in the market place. The position requires a commitment to operational excellence, supporting the ideal end-to-end experience to every patient and caregiver through a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, innovation and partnership.


  • Determine and drive Supply Chain strategies for the institution.

  • Manage all regulatory aspects of supplies including recall management, clinical evaluation committee, and JCAHO inspections.

  • Lead and collaborate with Sr Management on, transformation projects within the Supply Chain functions throughout MSKCC.

  • Lead Supply Chain communication, training, and awareness of leading best practices throughout MSKCC.

  • Partner with Procurement Leadership to connect and integrate supply chain strategies for seamless and efficient/effective processes/systems/environment.

  • Ensure industry best practices (such as Six Sigma and Lean to Measure) are utilized to measure the supply chain performance at every step.

  • Facilitate, participate or lead committees focused on implementing performance management activities and components

  • Communicate and collaborate with partners, managers and/or peer groups to guide and recommend targeted reviews based on findings.

  • Facilitate systems mapping for dependent and interdependent supply chain functions throughout the institution.

  • Lead committees focused on improving cost, control, speed, and reliability of the supply chain / supply chain components.

  • Lead the development of, systems and processes to optimize each aspect of the supply chain, with a focus on cost savings and quality service.

  • Communicate effectively with senior management, with an emphasis on negotiation in order to implement process improvement initiatives.

  • Ensure quality control of all process improvement initiatives, ensuring service level remains optimal.

  • Establish, control and manage departmental operating, capitol, special projects and labor budgets.

  • Coordinate with SVP, Supply Chain Management to prepare operating and capital budgets according to departmental and center guidelines, managing to required deadlines

  • A Masters Degree in Supply Chain, Business or Finance

  • 7-10 years of relevant experience

  • A CMRP or CPSM is preferred
