Job Description

Memorial Sloan Kettering's Major Gifts (MG) team is a consistent source of revenue raising critical support for both disease-specific and institutional priorities, the team of 15 includes one Director, one Associate Director, seven Major Gifts Officers, and five Development Officers. We build deep personal relationships with donors and physician-researchers, brokering creative and effective partnerships.

The Office of Development at MSK has raised more than $4 billion over the last ten years and is growing our Major Gifts team. We are looking for top fundraisers with a real passion for gifts and a dream to join a premier organization. Our Development staff is seen as a key contributor to the success of MSK and is highly respected by our Medical, Research and Senior leadership.

TheDevelopment Departmentat MSK is seeking an experiencedDevelopment Officerto join their growing team.

As the Development Officer, you will:

  • Cultivate and solicit gifts: Initiate and conduct personal meetings, utilizing metrics to determine the amount of face-to-face and other significant contact techniques with major gift prospects that will result in new and continued commitments in the major giving range, as well as increasing the commitments of annual giving donors.

  • Solicit gifts in the range of $25,000 to $250,000.

  • Research, draft, and follow-up on proposals.

  • Coordinate activities, when appropriate with the collateral areas of donor stewardship, events, donor research, acknowledgment, and donor communications.

  • Event work: Assist with planning, implementation, follow-up and analysis of cultivation and stewardship events for major donors.

  • Coordinate solicitations with Major Gift Officers.

  • Assist with Major Gifts Team projects

  • Other assignments as needed.

You are:

  • An organized self-starter, with strong multi-tasking, prioritizing and follow-through skills.

  • Action-oriented and eager to embrace new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.

  • Adept at creating partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals.

  • An effective communicator, capable of determining how best to reach different audiences and executing communications based on that understanding.

  • Adept at tactfully navigating and maneuvering in large organizational hierarchy.

  • Flexible in your approach and demeanor in order to align with the shifting demands of evolving circumstances.

You have:

  • A Bachelor's Degree AND 5 years of experience in Development/Fundraising.#LI-POST
