Job Details:

The Health Information Management (HIM) Compliance team is comprised of coding professionals who provide coding guidance within HIM and other departments. We collaborate with providers across the Center to audit, identify, trend, and train on medical coding and related matters. We review submissions and provide feedback for required documentation including physician, nursing, and other clinicians.

  • Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with departmental and organizational goals

You will:

  • Be responsible for special projects involving clinical data management and documentation to support the services provided

  • Perform audits to monitor compliance of ICD-9-CM, ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, and facility E/M levels

  • Periodically review clinical documentation to ensure quality and consistency

  • Work under the supervision of the Health Information Management Senior compliance analyst

You need:

  • A bachelor’s degree

  • At least 2 years hands-on coding experience and an interest in compliance

  • Supervisory experience in an automated health care environment

  • RHIA/RHIT/CCS/CPC certification (preferred)

Nice to have:

  • Experience working with and understanding of Medicare National Coverage Determinations (NCD) and Local Coverage Determinations (LCD)

  • Knowledge and experience in inpatient coding

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access

  • A strategic mindset to regularly problem-solve and think creatively

  • Experience in hospital/facility patient accounting/billing
