We are: The largest of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s clinical departments, theDepartment of Medicineencompasses experts in various specialties within the Hematologic Malignancies & Supportive Care, Solid Tumor Oncology, Subspecialty Medicine Divisions and General Medicine Services. Our experts provide the complete spectrum of medical oncology treatments such as chemotherapy, hormone therapy, immunotherapy, and cellular therapy, leading the development and testing of new drug therapies in all areas.
We are seeking a dynamic Assistant Manager. In this newly defined role, you will report to a Manager and have oversight for large and complex physician practices and offices. You will work collaboratively with physicians to implement the practice vision of the Service Chief and carry out the daily operations of academic practices. The Assistant Manager will also be responsible for the management of front line administrative staff and ensure the most professional, efficient and appropriate management of academic practices in the department. The Assistant Manager will also encourage staff development, continuous improvement, and the highest quality service for our patients.
Other responsibilities include:
Recruiting, orientation, training, disciplinary action and staff evaluation.
Prioritization of workflows to meet the needs of the department and ensure efficient and financially sound operations.
Managing allocation and use of resources, partnering with clinical administrative units (such as Ambulatory Care and Patient Financial Services to execute objective and performance improvement of MD practices and enhancing the patient experience.
Actively identifying, analyzing and recommending improvements to current processes and fostering innovation.
Analyzing and communicating information and data necessary for fulfilling department needs and overseeing physician practice activity; making recommendations regarding departmental and practice operations based on analysis of information.
Monitoring practice activity metrics and conducting regular reporting.
Performing day to day financial tasks (such as travel reimbursement), and abiding by existing policies and procedures.
Capable of building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions.
A good decision maker, with proven success of making timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.
Adept at planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational priorities.
Effective in building teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals.
Capable of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and goals.
Bachelor’s Degree plus 2-4 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting OR a minimum of 6 years relevant work experience in lieu of a degree
Non-MSK Employees: Supervisory experience (15-25 direct reports or more) strongly preferred
MSK Employees: At least one year in a Team Lead/equivalent or higher role strongly preferred
Strong communication, both written and verbal
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Flexibility with work hours
