Job Description

Do you want to use your skills to make the world's best cancer center even better? We are looking for an Analytics Engineer to join the Strategy Analytics team; we support our doctors, nurses, researchers, and other staff as they work to treat and cure cancer. If you have deep technical skills coupled with a passion for making them useful in solving real and pressing problems, then this could be an ideal role for you! We're looking for a thoughtful, out-of-the-box developer who is no stranger to a presentation.

What sets this opportunity apart...

Prime Analytics is a new initiative (with strong executive sponsorship from our Chief Operating Officer) to unify the large data community at MSK. We are standarizing career paths and professional development, technical infrastructure, and analytical tools across the hospital. In this role, you will partner with departments across the organization and distill their expertise into a widely-used codebase for the institution, acting as a force-multiplier in our work to conquer cancer.

You will:

  • Develop and maintain R and Python organization-wide packages that are used across MSK. Initial examples of this include:

  • Methods to connect & work with data pipelines in R & Python.

  • Centralize functions for creating MSK-branded visualizations (plots, reports, stylesheets).

  • Provide engineering support, thought leadership, and training to help departments centralize code in department-specific packages.

  • Define and set the vision for methodologies in software development.

You are:

  • Passionate about analytics and its power to transform operations and clinical care.

  • Experienced with modern engineering workflows of analytics: product development, production environments, codebase, version control/code review etc.

  • Eager to take ownership of projects and deliver results on schedule.

  • Adept at building partnerships and working collaboratively with team members to meet shared objectives and goals.

  • A thoughtful and effective communicator, capable of reaching diverse audiences

  • Adept at learning quickly, applying insights from past efforts to new situations.

You have:

  • Extensive experience in R and/or Python, including experience delivering code that others rely on to do their work.

  • Prior experience creating and maintaining R packages or Python libraries.

  • Dedication to high development standards, including comprehensive testing and documentation.

  • 4+ years of software development experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree; Master’s degree a strong plus.

  • Experience with SQL a plus.

  • Experience in data science or related field a plus.
