The Administrative Coordinator for the Psychiatry Service within the Department of Psychiatry & Behavioral Sciences , is responsible for effectively supervising Physician Office Assistants and the Assistant to the Chair to ensure the most professional, organized, efficient and appropriate management of Attending physician, psychologist, and neuropsychologist academic offices in an environment that encourages staff development, continuous improvement, and the highest quality service. Responsible for coordinating clinical and administrative operations for the Attendings’ academic practices within the Psychiatry Service.

The mission of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences is to maintain its established leadership role as the preeminent group in the psychiatric, psychological and behavioral sciences domains of oncology, through its activities in patient care, cancer prevention and outreach, research and education. Our department encompasses experts in psychiatry, psychology, neuropsychology, and research. Within the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences Attending experts provide complete mental health treatments such as psychotherapy and medication management and we have various clinical programs such as couples and family clinic, pediatric program, and tobacco cessation program. We offer a range of services both in New York City and at our suburban outpatient locations.

As an Administrative Coordinator, you will:

  • Demonstrate adaptability to coordinate and support daily operations and provide cross-coverage.

  • Focus on performance improvement in the area of operations, clinical and administrative.

  • Proactively lead and oversee employees in the academic physician practices to ensure job duties are being completed accurately, thoroughly and timely.

  • Empower employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Provide effective ongoing performance feedback through employee recognition and take appropriate action to address performance gaps.

  • Develop and foster relationships with multiple counterparts including clinicians, staff and peers across the organization.

  • Persist to complete tasks, even in the face of difficulties, and look for ways to continue improvement in performance.

  • Appropriately communicate information through department meetings, one-on-one meetings, and email or regular interpersonal communication.

  • Accomplish desired results in a manner that maximizes the use of time and resources.

  • Initiate and follow through on new projects/assignments; accepts new projects and works diligently to complete them.

  • Respond to new demands, priorities, and challenges/ obstacles.

You have:

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree.

  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Supervisory experience strongly preferred (i.e., directing work, ensuring accountability, building effective teams, driving engagement).

  • MSK Employees: At least one year in a Physician Office Specialist/Practice Leader/equivalent or higher role strongly preferred.

  • Strong communication, both written and verbal.

  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.


  • Monday to Friday, 9 am to 5 pm, flexibility needed.
