Job Details:

Provides administrative services for MSKCC’s Storage Area Network (SAN), and Network Attached Storage (NAS) environments. Provides admin level assistance throughout all phases of the implementation or project. Works with peer groups to understand, troubleshoot and correct issues. Provides needed documentation and reports to department and management. Works toward a relevant specialty within the storage competencies.

Perform SAN/NAS system administrator duties, and provide troubleshooting/support services as required. Able to support provisioning, zoning, switching, cabling and software used by the Storage Group. Provide off hours support and offsite location support as required.

Supports Storage Manager and Team Leads in tasking out work from change requests, incident tickets and interdepartmental requests. Update tickets and close with appropriate documentation. Notify group and Manager on tickets nearing breach

Assist in development of solutions and communications/documentation for peers, other groups and end users using all tools available.

Adheres to proper change control and escalation procedures. Prepares, maintains and submits activity/progress reports and time recording/management reports in accordance with published procedures. Works with and becomes proficient in the report tools used for storage and backup and is adept at gathering information in creative ways and presenting to management.

Participates in the installation, customization, and integration of SAN/NAS solutions. Maintains awareness of existing or potential end-user software/hardware situations. Proactively alerts management of potential problems and solutions.

Works toward a specialty or multiple competencies through training, experience or by any means to further provide expertise to the group.

Assist the group with documenting processes, procedures, layouts, etc. pertaining to the group in SharePoint or current tool.

Associate’s Degree / Certified Vocational Training

2-4 years Experience in storage, backup or data center operations with Associates Degree. Specialized vocational training and some experience toward the lesser end of the scale is needed.

Bachelor’s Degree

Less than 2 years Some experience is preferred in storage, backup or data center operations.
