Job Description

When you join us as The Office Coordinator to the Service Chief you will manage and maintain a practice for Dr. Jewell,Vice Chair of Surgery for the Regional Alliances. You will function as the primary contact for patients; handle heavy telephone volume, schedule patients’ tests, appointments, and procedures; update and maintain electronic medical records; coordinate with clinical and administrative staff; create letters and submit necessary paperwork for patients, physicians, and payer and provide full academic administrative support.

You will:

  • Use your strong customer service and multi-tasking abilities to support a practice by providing administrative support to the clinical team.

  • Ensure patients get the assistance they need in a timely and friendly manner. Function as the primary contact for the practice where you are responsible for scheduling patients’ tests, appointments, and procedures.

  • Update and maintain the electronic medical records (EMR). Team up with clinical staff, and submit information to payers for pre-certification approvals.

You have:

  • Bachelor's degree (preferred) OR a High School Diploma/GED and 2+ years relevant experience

  • A strong interest in Healthcare Administration or building an in depth understanding of what it means to work in a dynamic physician’s office

  • Experience in an administrative role preferred, Healthcare industry a plus; special consideration will be given to candidates that have demonstrated experience who have worked in a high volume physician office presently or in the past.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology preferred

  • Strong computer skills

  • Ability to handle deeply ill patients in stressful situations with a positive demeanor

  • Ability to provide at least a 2 year commitment

This role will prepare you for a successful career and allow you to follow a variety of paths within the Center.

Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm

Training will take place in Manhattan.
