The Strategy and Innovation team leverages the power of data and analytics to shape strategic decisions at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, a world renowned organization dedicated to the progressive control and cure of cancer through programs of patient care, research, and education.

We focus on solving problems that will measurably impact the lives of our patients and staff. Our team has close relationships with senior executives, clinicians, and front-line staff, with whom we work closely to make the results of our analyses practical and usable.

We are seeking a Strategic Analyst I who will conduct analyses on clinical, operational, and strategic questions to improve the delivery of cancer care.

You’ll be part of a 5-person team of analysts and data scientists working on the following projects:

  • Symptomatic Patient Project: risk stratifying patients using predictive modeling as a basis for a new clinical program

  • Metastasis Detection Project: use unstructured data and natural language processing to identify evidence of metastasis

Day-to-day work includes:

  • Data collection, analysis, and visualization

  • Collaborating with clinicians and inter- and intra-departmental teams

  • Communicating findings with stakeholders and a non-technical audience

  • Learning new analytics and predictive modeling techniques in R

You are :

  • Adept at working with real-world data and extracting meaningful insights from it

  • Comfortable with using quantitative techniques (e.g. simulation, optimization, machine learning, forecasting, and predictive modeling) to solve business problems

  • A versatile storyteller, able to communicate complex technical subjects to non-technical audiences

  • Curious, eager to tackle a wide variety of problems, and able to learn independently

You need :

  • Bachelors degree in a quantitative field (operations research, mathematics, economics, etc.)

  • Demonstrated experience working with real-world data

  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills

  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g. R, SAS, SPSS)

  • Appropriate analytical skills (e.g. Stats, SQL)

  • Independence within your tasks

  • Team player

Nice to have :

  • Masters degree in a quantitative field

  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g. Python, C++, Java)
