Our Molecular Biology Lab is seeking a Research Assistant. You will be responsible for maintaining an organized lab environment, managing the mouse colony, carrying out experiments, and overseeing day to day operation of the lab.
As a Research Assistant , your responsibilities include:
Ordering mice, weaning and tagging mice in the colony, and organizing the mouse colony. This would involve monitoring the census, and making decisions to facilitate keeping the census as low as possible. Organization of the mouse colony will also require making judgments as to designing the most efficient breeding strategies. In addition, it requires that the person have some facility, or the ability to acquire it in a timely manner with Filemaker pro and other programs such as Excel with which it interfaces
Mouse injection, bleeding, or dissection according to the exigencies of a given experiment and according to the need to minimize animal discomfort.
Perform Western blots, cell culture, protein purification, and reagent preparation.
Maintenance of lab equipment, organization of lab supplies, and management of various lab databases. In addition, the person will be in charge of sending out reagents to other labs, and keeping accurate records of that activity
Ensure that day to day lab chores are discharged by members of the lab and assist in keeping the animal protocol up to date, as new amendments are required
Bachelor’s in Biology or related with 5+ years of relevant experience or Master’s with at least 3 years
Experience in handling mice is preferred, and willingness to handle mice is essential#LI-SB1
